Summary:  With a goal of providing quality care in a home-like atmosphere for residents of Marceline and surrounding communities, employees of Pioneer Skilled Nursing Center at 1500 S. Kansas Ave. are working to carry on a tradition that started more than 20 years ago. Owners David White and Bob Pischel opened the facility on Dec. 19, 1977. It was purchased by AmeriCare Systems, Inc., of Sikeston three years later, and Pioneer has been offering a variety of services and activities for patients around the area ever since.
