Established March 16, 1888, the City operates under the Council-Manager form of government. Located in the southeast corner of Linn County, the history of Marceline is closely identified with the story of the great expansive movement of the Santa Fe Railroad in the 1880’s and 1890’s. The government and community of Marceline is progressive in outlook, sparked by civic pride, and has much to offer.
Marceline is a great place to live, and strives to engage the community using all media tools at its disposal to communicate its goals, vision and values.

The Marceline Housing Authority has served the City of Marceline since 1969 with quality rental housing to accommodate everyone’s financial situation.
There are senior rates, income-based rates, and other market rates available.
The Marceline Housing Authority is located at 229 West Hauser Street in Marceline.
Some of the housing available at the Authority include efficiency, one, two, and three-bedroom units. The Marceline Housing Authority is an Equal Housing Opportunity.
